A SUA MAGESTADE DOM PEDRO II.

 

Poesia feita pelo Commandante do Congo
o Sr. Moreau, depois de receber o retrato de S. M.

 

Primeiro sobre o throno assentou a sciencia;
De seus nobres designios regrando a impaciencia,
Grilhōes quebrou; e do povo ditoso.
Sabio funda o futuro luminoso.

 


 

Le premier sur le trône il plaça la science;
De ses nobles desseins réglant l’impatience,
Il a brisé des fers; et de sou peuple heureux,
Il fonda savamment l’avenir lumineux.
