Hello DaveZ123, welcome to the multilingual Wikisource! Thanks for your interest in the project; we hope you'll enjoy the community and your work here.
This wiki is the original Wikisource wiki, originally hosting works in many languages. The larger collections have been spawned into separate projects, leaving this wiki to serve as a central collaboration point, and as an environment where works without a language subdomain can be started. Refer to our languages list to see which languages still reside on this wiki. You can find a list of the separate language projects on the main page or here and you may want to look at the our coordination page for limitations on placing certain works on the separate language projects.
Most questions and discussions about the community are in the Scriptorium.
The Community Portal lists tasks you can help with if you wish. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page!
Zyephyrus (talk) 16:41, 4 July 2014 (UTC)Transcription of Kienning (Northern Min)
[edit]Hi, thanks for your contributions to the Kienning New Testament transcription. I just wanted to let you know a few things if you are intending to continue working on this. First of all, the text pages like Se̿ng-géng/Mǎ-tuo̿i Hŭ-éng/1 should be transcluding from the source transcription: <pages index="新約全書建寧府個土腔羅馬字.pdf" fromsection="Matthew 1" tosection="Matthew 1" from=9 to=10 />
. Second, please use Template:RunningHeader for the header. Third, please use #
rather than raw numbers for verse numbers; it's okay if the numbering is off on the individual pages, but the numbering will be corrected when transcluded on the text pages. Fourth, please be careful about diacritics: I see many breve accents (˘
, 陰入) being mistranscribed as caron accents (ˇ
, 上聲). Let me know if you have questions. Happy editing! Justinrleung (talk) 05:33, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Justinrleung:, I was previously unaware that Kienning (Northern Min) did not use carons; in fact I previously was of the impression that only carons were used or at least they were thought to be interchangeable with breves.
- Anyway, I have created this Caron to Breve conversion tool which you can use to quickly remove all carons from the text in bulk. --DaveZ123 (talk) 06:00, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry if I wasn’t clear. The two accent marks are both used and are for different tones. They are not interchangeable. The breve accent is 陰入, while the caron accent is 上聲. Most of your mistakes were using breve instead of caron but they should not all be changed to breve. Justinrleung (talk) 08:06, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

- @Justinrleung:, This adds an extra degree of complication and is too time consuming for me to fix the existing pages; I will leave it in your safe hands to rectify.
- Going forward, I will be more careful when creating new Kienning pages as to whether it is a caron or a breve. --DaveZ123 (talk) 11:29, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks! Justinrleung (talk) 01:19, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
