AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY WITHIN THE TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF ASINGAN, PANGASINAN TO INCLUDE ONEHALF (1/2) cup OF COOKED RICE IN THEIR MENU

Be it ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan Of Asingan, Pangasinan in session duly assembled, that

SECTION 1. Definition of Terms

a) Food service industry refer to those businesses, institutions, and companies responsible for any meal prepared outside the home and thus, includes restaurants, school, office and hospital cafeterias, catering operations, fast-food chains and many other formats.

b) Half cup of rice refers to one-half of one hundred fifty eight (158) grams/cup or roughly eighty (80) grams.

c) Municipality refers to Asingan, Pangasinan.

SECTION 2. Coverage

All businesses, institutions, and companies responsible for any meal prepared outside the home which includes, but are not limited to restaurants, school, office and hospital cafeterias, catering operations, and fast-food chains operating within the territorial jurisdiction of the municipality are hereby required to include one-half (1/2) cup of cooked rice in their regular menu and set its price at exactly half that of one cup.

SECTION 3. Implementation Upon its approval, the Municipal Mayor, with due recommendation from her Municipal Health Officer shall issue appropriate rules and regulations to ensure the proper implementation f the provisions of this ordinance, if necessary.

SECTION 4. Penalty Any food service provider found violating this ordinance shall be penalized as follows:

1st Offense — Fine of Php500.00.

2nd Offense- Fine of Phpl ,000.00 and one (I) month suspension of license or permit to operate.

3rd Offense- Fine of Phpl ,500.00 and permanent cancellation of license or permit to operate.

SECTION 5. Separability Clause If any provision of this ordinance is declared as invalid by any court or proper authority, other parts not affected thereby, shall remain in force and effect.
